Property tax notices delayed by county

Property tax notices for those in Linn County, normally mailed in August and due by Sept. 30, are being delayed due to a mainframe being damaged by the flood. Linn County Treasurer Mike Stevenson anticipates property tax bills will be mailed in September. Once received, property owners have 30 days to pay them.

The tax statements are for the assessed value of properties as of January 2007. Property taxes are paid one year in arrears, so the bills that will be issued in September cover the tax period of July 1, 2007, through June 30, 2008.
